Senator’s Foreign Trip Sparks Outrage From Grieving Mothers

Sen. Chris Van Hollen is under fire from Angel Moms who say he’s ignoring American families destroyed by illegal alien crime—while fighting to bring a suspected MS-13 gang member back into the U.S.

Van Hollen, a Democrat from Maryland, flew to El Salvador this week to visit 29-year-old Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported by the Trump administration. Garcia, an illegal alien who entered the U.S. in 2011, is accused of gang affiliation, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Van Hollen publicly vowed to help return Garcia to the U.S., telling his family, “I would do everything possible to bring him home.”

But two Maryland mothers, whose daughters were murdered by illegal aliens linked to MS-13, say Van Hollen never even offered them condolences—let alone action.

Tammy Nobles, mother of 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton, says Van Hollen has never contacted her. Her daughter was raped and killed in 2022 by an MS-13 member who had been released into the U.S. after falsely claiming fear of gang violence in El Salvador. “I never heard anything from him,” Nobles said in a FOX Baltimore interview. “No condolences or anything about Kayla. His political priorities are screwed up.”

“These are vicious criminals. MS-13 is a very violent gang who does not care who you are,” she added.

Patty Morin, mother of 37-year-old Rachel Morin—brutally murdered in 2023—says she’s furious that taxpayer money is being spent on a mission to assist a foreign criminal instead of protecting American lives. “He didn’t even acknowledge or barely acknowledged my daughter and the brutal death she endured,” Morin said at the White House. “Why does that person have more right than I do or my daughter or my grandchildren?”

Rachel Morin’s case is considered the most horrific crime in Harford County, Maryland history. Her five children are now motherless. Yet, Morin says Van Hollen and other Democrats were nowhere to be found when it mattered most. “There was no action on the Democrat Party in any way, from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Mayorkas, anyone here in Maryland,” she told Fox News’ Hannity.

Van Hollen’s trip isn’t an isolated incident—it’s part of a broader effort by Democrat lawmakers who are planning similar travel to El Salvador to advocate for Garcia, despite his alleged gang ties and a documented history of domestic abuse. Breitbart News previously reported that Garcia’s wife has twice accused him of beating her.

That hasn’t stopped Democrats from pushing to undo Trump’s deportation of Garcia. But the outcry from Angel Moms like Morin and Nobles is exposing the party’s warped priorities. Rather than championing justice for innocent American women slain by violent criminals, Van Hollen and his allies are spending political capital defending the very people responsible.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and other conservatives have blasted Democrats for their hypocrisy. “They’re fighting harder for an MS-13 gang member than they ever have for the victims of his cartel’s violence,” Greene said earlier this week. “This isn’t compassion, it’s betrayal.”

The American people are waking up to this reality. The divide between law-abiding citizens and political elites has never been clearer. When a U.S. senator takes time to defend a foreign criminal before acknowledging grieving American families, it’s more than a political mistake—it’s a moral failure.

Van Hollen may think he’s scoring points with the activist base, but for millions of Americans watching their country be torn apart by lawlessness, his actions are indefensible. The Angel Moms are making sure no one forgets who really deserves protection—and who’s being left behind.
