Despite President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin thinking it was a good idea to remove troops from the southern border, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) are reporting a vastly different picture. US Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens Tweeted out stats and photos of some of their latest figures and missions.
As he showcased what they needed to do, he discussed how brutal the heat has been this year. As it stands, he explained, they are working with only 1,300 agents who are trained as Emergency Medical Techs (EMTs), and that includes elite Border Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) agents. These SWAT-like agents are called out when it gets really serious.
From October 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023, CBP agents were called in for the rescue of 25,735 along the US-Mexico border alone. Just back in FY21, that number was 22,075 and 12,833 for FY21. From these numbers alone, it’s easy to see that not only were the numbers of people making the illegal cross down significantly, but that they are skyrocketing.
The other big change there? President Biden waltzing into the White House. Back in FY 2020, when it was President Trump in the Oval Office, there were only 5,071 rescues. Under Sleepy Joe, the number of rescues has gone up 400%. This isn’t a coincidence, and something needs to be done about it. It’s not just a matter of more CBP agents or more EMTs on staff. Rather, this is a change in our border policy.
Unlike the quest of the liberals, this isn’t a change making illegals more welcome or making the process easier than ordering at an automat. Rather it has stiffer penalties for violating border laws.
