California’s Broken Justice System Caused the Mass Shooting

A mass shooting this past weekend in Sacramento, California left many people shaken. Two shooters took down multiple people, leaving some dead and even more injured.

If you look at gun control laws, California has some of the strictest that are out there. This is because the land of the liberals believes that if they create laws that nearly impede upon the Second Amendment, they won’t face mass shootings like other parts of the country.

This theory of theirs was destroyed because of the mass shooting. Criminals don’t pay attention to the law, whether it has to do with gun ownership or committing acts of violence. They do what they want when they want – and hope that they don’t get caught.

Now that the shooters have been caught, we learn the real reason why the mass shooting took place. The justice system in California is broken.

We already knew that it was damaged. After all, the liberal prosecutors and judges don’t seem to want to punish the criminals. They want to let them go with little to no bail. And if they are prosecuted, they are back on the streets in record time. This sends a clear message to the criminals: go ahead and commit a crime, the government doesn’t care.

Prison isn’t a deterrent – especially when sentences aren’t carried out to the fullest.

Smiley Allen Martin is one of the men who was arrested for the mass shooting. He was paroled in April 2021 – three years into a 10-year sentence. The reason he was in prison was for domestic violence along with assault and great bodily injury.

It gets better. During the Board of Parole Hearings, Deputy District Attorney Danielle Abildgaard wrote a letter stating, “As shown by Inmate Martin’s pattern of conduct, he is an assaultive and non-compliant individual and has absolutely no regard for his victims who are left in the wake of numerous serious offenses. He has no respect for others, for law enforcement or for the law. If he is released early, he will continue to break the law.”

He was released anyway.

Well, is it really any surprise that this mass shooting happened? They knew that he was a danger to others, and they chose to let him out regardless.

The mass shooting could have been prevented not by gun control but with a stricter justice system.

Of course, the liberals don’t pay attention to the facts. Biden and the rest of them decided they would use the mass shooting as a way to advocate for more gun laws – not for stricter sentencing against people who have already committed crimes (and who will commit more if given the chance).

Biden made the comment that “We must do more than mourn.” He, then, proceeded to talk about the importance of having an entire office in the White House dedicated to gun control legislation.

Senator Alex Padilla followed it up with a tweet to say, “The President is right – we must take federal action to end these senseless tragedies.”

Their words sound pretty, but they’re still not going to stop mass shootings. The justice system has to be stronger. It has to be stricter. Criminals have to face the music of the crimes that they commit.
